Carb-less | Day One
Just a disclaimer before you continue to read this post: I am not trying to solicit any lifestyle plan through these daily diary posts. These are to keep myself accountable, to reflect on what went wrong and to check myself so that I can improve my knowledge and help myself and others get the results I/they want.
I am going on holiday in four weeks and whilst being remarkably impressed with my progress, I am still not quite where I want to be. After a lot of deliberation, I decided on the Saturday just gone that from today, Monday 10th June, I will be going carb-less/ be on very limited carbs for the next two weeks, with two re-feeds both scheduled for the Sundays. If successful, this will continue for the remaining two weeks prior to my holiday.
I'm going to do a daily brief diary on here to keep myself accountable, log how I am feeling and the progress that I am making just for my own sake rather than promoting the diet itself. This diet/lifestyle isn't something I would particularly recommend to those of you just starting out on the fat-loss side of fitness and health, as it requires loads of discipline and can completely put you off if you don't have a game plan. By day three you can quite easily find yourself inhaling carbs if you don't stay level-headed and lose the rhythm of things. A lot of people may say that carb free diets are a load of b*llocks. Each to their own, it works for a lot of people and will definitely help with my physique and give me a more shredded and less bloated look!
I feel like these lifestyle kicks are a lot easier to start on a Monday for me personally. On Saturday I drank WAY too much and it's started to get to the point where hangovers give me intense anxiety, my chest feels very tight and of course, I am left feeling and looking very bloated. Starting today made me feel a lot more in control, despite missing out on about a days sleep due to not getting in until the early hours on Sunday morning. Oops. So today the tiredness paired with no carbohydrates (as your brain requires at least 80g of carbohydrates to function effectively) meant a lot of c*ck ups at work and mindless mistakes. BUT, tomorrow is a new day and this is something I will get on top of.

02.06.2019 - Ab Progression Pre-No Carb 'Diet'
So I got up quite late today, feeling lethargic and just generally a little 'meh'. My anxiety was was also playing up and made me a little snappy. I ate two 'meals' quite close together and then did the distance, going off coffee until the gym and my evening meal. Today's eating and drinking wasn't exactly healthy and ideal, but after the calories I consumed over the weekend my body probably needed it. Coffee probably didn't aid my hydration either which will have definitely contributed to me feeling lethargic and clumsy. So tomorrow I am aiming to have the recommended eight cups of water as opposed to dabbling between coffee and water.
Today I ate...
Breakfast: Banana x1 (yes there are carbs in banana-I am not completely cutting carbs but cutting high-carb foods and unnecessary amounts of carbs where possible)
Pre-made protein pancake
Lunch: Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein Shake Strawberry flavour
Black coffee
-Gym: 1 ltr water-
Dinner: Homemade chicken salad with low fat caesar dressing
Punnet of cherries
Diet Coke can
1 ltr water
Notes for tomorrow:
Calorie intake was nowhere near as high as it should have been and did not even reach my daily allowance. Especially for how they were expended in the gym. As an alternative to obtaining calories and nourishment from carbs, get these calories from protein, fibres and other food groups in healthy quantities that will leave you feeling energised and alert. Drink more water.
My workout was just over an hour and a half, I started with a stepper and sprint warm up and then continued to target by biceps and triceps, with a bit of emphasis on abs and obliques at the end of the session. I would write it all out for you but truth be told, I am knackered and need to hit the hay so I don't get up stupidly close to when I should be leaving for work. I will try and take some photos and list the workout as I go this time just so you (and myself included) have a more clear idea of what I have been doing, where I have been going right and wrong.
Na-night for now
